Eye Health Technology

Eye Health Technology, Keene, NH

At New England EyeWorks in Keene, New Hampshire, we use the latest technology to diagnose a variety of eye conditions in their early stages when treatment is most effective.

Here are some of the eye health technologies we may use during an eye exam:

Digital Retinal Imaging

We use this technology to create high-quality digital images of the inside of your eye. This allows us to diagnose many eye conditions like glaucoma, macular degeneration, and diabetic retinopathy.

Visual Field Testing

This test measures your peripheral vision or your ability to see things to the side or out of the corner of your eye. Many eye conditions such as glaucoma and macular degeneration can affect your peripheral vision before you notice symptoms. Visual field testing helps us diagnose these conditions and start early treatment to prevent further vision loss.

Optical Coherence Tomography

Optical coherence tomography (OCT) is a non-invasive imaging test that uses light waves to take images of the back of your eye. We use OCT to diagnose and manage several eye conditions, including glaucoma and macular degeneration.

Digital Refraction System

Eye doctors typically use a method called refraction to determine your prescription. This involves flipping through lenses and asking you which one is clearer. A digital refraction system, or digital phoropter, is a faster and more accurate way to determine your prescription. You simply identify letters and numbers on a screen, and the software calculates your exact prescription.

Corneal Mapping

Corneal mapping, also known as corneal topography, is an imaging technique that maps the surface of the cornea (or the clear, front window of the eye). This technology helps us diagnose and manage conditions such as astigmatism, keratoconus, and corneal irregularities. It is also helpful for fitting contact lenses and evaluating patients for refractive surgery.

iCare Tonometer

Are you worried about your next eye exam because of the “puff of air” test? At our clinic, we use the iCare tonometer to evaluate eye pressure and look for signs of glaucoma. With this technology, we can measure eye pressure without the need for eye drops or the uncomfortable “puff of air” sensation.

MPOD Testing

Macular pigment optical density (MPOD) measures the density of macular pigment in your eyes. Having a low MPOD can increase the risk of age-related macular degeneration (AMD) and other eye problems. With regular MPOD measurements, we can monitor your eye health and prevent vision loss.

Diagnosis and Treatment for Dry Eye

Dry eye syndrome can greatly affect your vision and quality of life. At New England EyeWorks, we specialize in diagnosing and treating dry eye syndrome to provide lasting relief. After your dry eye evaluation, our eye doctor will create a personalized treatment plan to help manage and relieve your dry eye symptoms. We offer a range of treatments for dry eye, including:

BlephEx® eyelid exfoliation treatment

BlephEx® is a device our eye doctors use to clean and exfoliate the surface of your eyelids and lashes. When your eyelids and lashes are clean and free of debris and bacteria, they can function more properly, reducing inflammation and providing relief from dry eye symptoms.

Intense pulsed light (IPL) therapy

IPL therapy is a highly effective treatment that targets the root causes of dry eye syndrome, specifically meibomian gland dysfunction. With IPL therapy, gentle pulses of light are used to stimulate these glands and improve their function. This helps alleviate dry eye symptoms and provides long-lasting relief.

TearCare® dry eye treatment

TearCare® uses heat and gentle pressure to stimulate the meibomian glands, providing relief from dryness and discomfort. When the meibomian glands are working properly, they secrete an oil that helps keep tears from evaporating. TearCare® treatment is highly effective in relieving dry eye symptoms and improving overall vision.
