Contact Lens Exam

Contact Lens Exam, Keene, NH

At New England EyeWorks in Keene, New Hampshire, we provide contact lens exams for both experienced wearers and people who are new to wearing contact lenses. If you currently wear contact lenses, we’ll examine your eyes to make sure your contacts are still appropriate for you and aren’t affecting your eye health. If you’re new to contacts, we will check your eye health and determine what type and size of contacts are right for you.

Even if you’ve been previously told that you can’t wear contact lenses, we may be able to help you! We have a variety of new lenses available that can accommodate astigmatism, presbyopia, and other conditions that make it difficult to wear traditional contact lenses.

What to expect during a contact lens exam

During your contact lens exam, we’ll evaluate your vision and eye health and take precise measurements to determine the right size and type of contact lens for you. We’ll ask about your lifestyle and hobbies so that we can recommend a contact lens that fits your unique needs. You will also learn how to insert, remove, and care for your contact lenses.

A contact lens exam requires additional measurements that aren’t included in a regular eye exam. When you schedule your eye exam, be sure to mention if you’re thinking about contact lenses. This way, we can book extra time for a contact lens evaluation or even schedule a separate appointment if needed.

Why do I need an exam for contact lenses?

If you’re considering contact lenses, you’ll need a contact lens exam since contacts are classified as medical devices and require a prescription. A poorly fitting lens can lead to discomfort, blurry vision, and even eye infections. A contact lens exam is necessary to ensure your contact lenses fit properly and won’t damage the overall health of your eyes.
