At EyeWorks we believe that staff training and education leads to better patient care. Many of our staff attend national meetings to stay up to date with the latest in eyecare.
Here are some of the following certifications to look for from optical staff:
ABOC: American Board of Opticianry Certification. An Optician with this designation has passed a national competency test and kept up with educational credits yearly.
ABO-AC: American Board of Opticianry Advanced Certification. An Optician with this designation has passed a more advance examination and has had their ABOC current.
ABO Master: This designation is the highest for an optician in the United States. An Optician with this designation has passed their advanced test and completed the Masters program.
CPOA: This is the first level in national certification for an optometric assistant. To earn this designation you must pass a national test and keep up educational credits yearly.
CPOC: This is the second level for an optometric assistant. To earn this designation you must pass a more advanced test, have your CPOA and keep up with educational credits.
CPOT: To earn this highest designation for an optometric assistant you must pass an advance test as well as a practical hands on test.
